Squinting in the darkness, she could hardly make out the rough outline of someone in a large cloak that masked the wearer’s form and identity. Not even the light breeze that filtered through the clearing managed to do more than toss the edges of the dark material about, remaining uncooperative in revealing who it shrouded.

She took a careful step forward, her gait light upon the cold ground, tilting her head high as she spoke with as much courage as she could muster.

"Who are you that trespasses upon royal ground?"

A voice reached her ears, hauntingly familiar as he replied, "No one of consequence. Just a mere admirer; one who wishes he could reveal himself to you freely."

She frowned, unsatisfied with the answer, opening her mouth to speak again when the baritone voice continued.

"I come with a warning, dear Princess of Venus, that if you continue to stick your nose into places it does not belong–"

He was interrupted as a loud shout rang from the garden maze, the pair of them turning to see the lady of Jupiter running swiftly towards her friend.

"Venus," she whispered hoarsely, "Serenity is gone! She's been kidnapped!"

Blonde hair whipping about her body, she turned back to the stranger, who had since disappeared. She took gentle steps towards the position he had taken, kneeling down in the grass as she saw a glint of silver. Picking up the thin thread, she realized what she held in her hand was hair, and it all suddenly clicked. Why Serenity was always missing, why her attempts to find her were useless, why he always happened to show up just when she thought she was getting closer to an answer–

"It's alright, Jupiter," she replied softly, "I'm sure Serenity is safe. She will no doubt show up again soon. Have you alerted anyone else in the castle to her disappearance?"

"No..."

"Then please do not. I do not think Serenity has been kidnapped; I firmly believe that she went willingly."

The brunette next to her frowned, but accepted the answer from her leader. "I will take my leave then."

As the Princess of Jupiter strode back into the maze to return to the palace, she resumed her position of observing the small blue marble that hung in the sky, her voice a quiet whisper on the wind. "Kunzite."
