A loud ringing roused Jedite into consciousness, the shrill tone prompting him to pick up his phone. Yawning, he rubbed his eyes to help dispel the lingering vestiges of sleep as he pressed the 'talk' button, raising the cell phone to his ear.

"Hello?"

"Hey Jed," a soft voice greeted him, alerting him to who he was talking to. "Rei? What are you doing calling me at–" he paused, glancing at his alarm clock, "Two in the morning? Is something wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong, love," she was quick to assure, "I'm just tired."

"Well," he chuckled softly, "I'm kinda tired too. And as much as we both would probably like to go back to bed, there's got to be a reason for you calling me this late at night. What's up?"

"I'm tired, Jed, tired of secrets, tired of the little voices in my head telling me of my past lives - I'm just tired."

Jedite jolted from the bed, immediately registering that the tone of voice Rei was speaking in was too calm. His mind flashed back to the last time she had talked like this; when they were talking about the death of her grandfather and how for a split second she wondered what was going to happen to her now. He scrambled around to pull some pants over his boxers and stumbled downstairs to where his shoes were. "Rei, sweetheart, what's wrong?"

"I've been lying to you Jed; lying all this time..." her voice trailed off before she spoke up again. "I knew you, before. A long time before. A millennia before. For some reason, my memories are all jumbled up, and I'm living the lives of three different people–"

"Rei, love, you're confusing me." Jedite had slipped his shoes on and gotten out the front door where he quickly slipped into his car. He started the engine quietly and made his way down the residential street to reach a road that could take him to old Hino mansion.

"I'm sorry, Jed, I really am." Rei's voice broke, and she started to cry softly.

"Rei, it's okay, love, it's okay. Just tell me where you are and we can sort this out - I don't mind that you lied to me. You're telling me the truth now, right?"

"I can't stand it anymore, Jed," Rei mumbled, "I'm going insane trying to sort it all out, and I just don't have the patience for it anymore. I want you to know something."

Jedite frowned as he saw the roadblock after having driven down the main road a bit, quickly parking the car and stepping out into the street to see what was going on. There were people gathered around yellow police lines, five squad cars and their occupants trying to keep them back, two helicopters in the air, and they were all centered around something on the old Henderson Bridge. He froze as he got close enough to see what was causing all of the chaos.

Rei was standing on the edge, dressed in her pajamas, a cell phone to her ear. She smiled softly as she caught sight of him standing, shocked, at the edge of the yellow ribbon.

"I just want to you know, Jed, I really do love you. I don't want you to blame yourself. I want you to go out and find another girl. One who is more suited for you than me."

Jedite shouted into the phone, "How can I find a better girl when you're the other half of my soul?" His exclamation made people turn to look at him, slowly connecting the dots that the girl on the bridge was talking to the young man next to them.

Rei chuckled wryly, "That's right, I forgot. Mars told me that we were soulmates. It's funny how the sweet things you said to me can be true." She paused before continuing, "We'll meet again, Jed, I know it. In another lifetime, maybe. I love you."

The cell phone clicked off as Jedite watched Rei close hers and toss it into the water below.

She stood there, illuminated by the searchlights, and in a final gasping breath she jumped. He screamed from behind the yellow police scene lines, as the girl he loved plummeted into darkness.
